The Lemons You Don’t See

Some lemons come into our lives loudly.

You see them coming.

A job ends.A relationship changes.A door closes.Something doesn't work out the way you planned.

But some lemons are much quieter.

They're the ones you don't see.

They're the people smiling in your face but secretly competing with you.

The person who listens to your dream and later tells someone else, “She'll never be able to do that.”

The people who support you—as long as you're not doing too well.

The ones who slowly disappear when you start growing.

And sometimes the hardest ones are the people you never thought you'd have to question.

Because you were there for them.

You answered the phone.

You showed up.

You encouraged their ideas.

You shared their accomplishments.

You supported their businesses.

You celebrated when something good happened for them.

You were the reliable one.

So naturally, you assumed that when it was your turn, they would be standing there too.

But life has a way of teaching us that the support we give isn't always the support we receive.

And that can hurt.

🍋 But here's the squeeze...

Don't let somebody else's inability to celebrate you change the kind of woman you are.

Keep encouraging.

Keep supporting.

Keep opening doors.

Keep being dependable.

Just learn that being a good person doesn't mean giving everyone unlimited access to you.

You can love people and change their seat in your life.

You can wish someone well without telling them every dream you're working on.

You can stop expecting encouragement from people who have repeatedly shown you they aren't capable of giving it.

You can stop measuring the value of your dream by the number of people clapping for it.

Sometimes the room gets quieter when you're growing.

Keep growing anyway.

Don't spend too much time trying to figure out who is secretly competing with you.

Don't investigate every silence.

Don't analyze every missing "like."

🍋 One more thing...

Don't make yourself suspicious of everybody.

Pay attention to patterns, not assumptions.

The people who genuinely support you will reveal themselves over time.

And so will the ones who don't.

Your job isn't to expose them.

Your job is to keep becoming.

Because one of the greatest lessons a dependable woman can learn is this:

You don't have to stop being the woman who cheers for others just because you discovered everyone wasn't cheering for you.

Keep your heart.

Change your boundaries.

Protect your dreams.

And keep making your lemonade.
